During a panel discussion at the “SHE CAN TECH & AI Edition” Summit

Belal Zahran, International Managing Director of Foodics Egypt & UAE, stated that AI is not just a futuristic technology, it is a current reality reshaping the present. He noted that Foodics is already implementing AI solutions to streamline operational processes, transforming multi-step tasks into actions completed within seconds.
During his participation in a panel discussion at the SHE CAN TECH & AI Edition Summit, titled “How AI Shapes the Future of E-Commerce and Retail”, he said: “Human history has witnessed major transformations such as the discovery of fire, writing, the steam engine, and the internet. AI today represents a similar leap in terms of scale and impact.”
Belal Zahran added, in a session featuring leaders from sectors beyond F&B: “Continuous system training using real-world data improves its efficiency and accuracy, with major advancements expected in the coming months. The role of AI is anticipated to evolve from merely supporting decision-making to executing decisions fully, redefining workflows across sectors.”
He explained, in the session focused on AI’s pivotal role in transforming industries, shaping business strategies, and creating new spaces for innovation, that Foodics is implementing a strategy aimed at strengthening its competitive capabilities and cementing its position as a leading provider of smart and innovative restaurant technology solutions. The goal is to enhance the end-customer experience, making it smoother and more personalized.
He highlighted that Foodics invests in AI solutions to improve and develop its operational processes, from simplifying internal workflows to predicting market needs and offering unprecedented services to clients. AI will extend beyond digital screens and interfaces to integrate with the physical world, becoming capable of instantly understanding human behavior, from recognizing repeat customers to anticipating their preferences, enabling the design of exceptional personalized experiences through data analysis across multiple touchpoints.
Belal then emphasized that humans remain at the center of this technological transformation. AI can handle routine or complex tasks but cannot replace uniquely human skills such as creativity, empathy, and emotional intelligence. He affirmed that this technology will continue to serve as a tool to enhance human capabilities, not replace them, as long as humans maintain these essential skills.
Regarding the local market, Zahran noted that Egypt’s digital transformation journey is still in its early stages, with challenges related to data availability and infrastructure persisting. Nevertheless, he expressed optimism about the potential of tech-savvy Egyptian youth, stating that they represent a driving force to accelerate AI adoption and position Egypt among the leading nations building an AI-driven economy.
It is worth noting that Foodics is a leading restaurant technology company in the Middle East and North Africa, offering a comprehensive digital platform based on the Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) model, making it a regional leader in the F&B sector. Foodics has been operating in Egypt since 2020, achieving threefold year-on-year business growth. In Egypt, Foodics helps some of the most prominent restaurant and café brands manage all their operations anytime, anywhere.
