L’Oréal Egypt Deepens Its Commitment to Women’s Empowerment Through Its Flagship “Beauty for a Better Life” Program, Empowering Nearly 1000 Women

As part of its global strategy & its sustainability program, L’Oréal For The Future, L’Oréal Egypt celebrated the success of its flagship social responsibility program, “Beauty for a Better Life,” during a media roundtable held at its New Cairo headquarters — reaffirming the company’s long-standing commitment to women’s empowerment and economic inclusion.
Launched globally by the L’Oréal Fondation in 2009, Beauty for a Better Life supports women’s economic empowerment through professional beauty training. Today, the program operates in 21 countries through 329 training centers and 46 NGO partners, having trained over 67,000 women worldwide, including 20,932 beneficiaries in 2024 alone.
In Egypt, the program was introduced in 2022 by the L’Oréal Fondation and powered by L’Oréal Egypt, under the auspices of the Ministry of Social Solidarity and in partnership with the Care Egypt Foundation to empower women suffering from domestic violence & support them socially and economically to start building a new, brighter future.
Since its launch, Beauty for a Better Life Egypt has trained and empowered 721 women graduates, achieving an impressive 86% employment rate among 2024 graduates, 39% of whom are refugees. In 2023, the program expanded beyond hairdressing to include makeup artistry, broadening opportunities for participants and responding to the growing needs of Egypt’s beauty industry. The program aims to reach by the end of 2025 almost 1000 women; these women are now thriving as salon professionals, freelancers, and small business owners.
Through two dedicated training centers, one in 6th of October (Giza) and another in Banha (Delta), beneficiaries receive both theoretical and practical training led by certified instructors & equipped with a professional curriculum developed by L’Oreal Foundation. Certified graduates are also equipped with professional starter kits, enabling immediate employment. Through Beauty For A Better Life, L’Oreal Egypt helps women rebuild confidence, achieve financial independence, and improve their families’ well-being.
Since its launch, a total of 200,000 Euro has been allocated to the program, equivalent to 10 million EGP. Building on its success, Beauty for a Better Life Egypt is now entering a new phase of growth —extending to include an additional 300 refugee women by the end of 2026.
Mohamed Al-Araby, Managing Director of L’Oréal Egypt, “We are immensely proud of the profound impact of our ‘Beauty for a Better Life’ program in Egypt. This initiative is a powerful reflection of our unwavering dedication to women’s empowerment, driving both economic inclusion and vital social transformation. Through our crucial partnerships with like-minded organizations, we are directly supporting women, including those courageously overcoming domestic violence, enabling them to build new, brighter futures, making tangible economic contributions that align perfectly with Egypt’s Vision 2030 for sustainable growth and job creation. As we approach empowering nearly 1000 women by the end of 2025, we are not just fostering financial independence; we are actively contributing to building a more inclusive and resilient society, one confident woman at a time.”
Vivian Thabet, Chief Executive Officer CEO for CARE Egypt, added: “Our partnership with L’Oréal Egypt continues to show how social partnerships with the private sector can create real, lasting change. By providing hands-on training and continuous support, we’ve helped hundreds of women — including refugees and survivors of domestic violence — rebuild their lives and find stability. Many have become role models within their communities.”
Nahla Mokhtar, Corporate Affairs, Engagement and Sustainability Director, commented, “The latest milestone in our journey is the launch of the Beauty for a Better Life Salon — also known as the Social Salon. This new initiative extends the program’s mission beyond vocational training to offer free beauty and wellness treatments delivered by socio-aestheticians and socio-hairdressers to women experiencing physical, psychological, or social hardship, helping them regain self-esteem, develop confidence, and improve their overall well-being.”
