MetLife Egypt has announced the launch of its “Community Days” activities on September 10 and 14, as part of its annual “Volunteering with Purpose” campaign. The initiative aims to promote a culture of volunteerism by encouraging employees to dedicate their time and efforts to meaningful community activities that create lasting impact and support Egypt’s social development priorities.
This year’s program features broad participation from MetLife employees across a wide range of community-driven initiatives. These include donating clothes to the Egyptian Clothing Bank and contributing to sorting and preparing them for distribution to families most in need. Volunteers are also joining the “SHAGRHA” initiative by planting trees in several schools in Obour City and at Baheya Hospital, with a target of planting 4,000 trees in 2025, as well as painting the walls of the Ahl Masr Foundation.
In addition, activities extend to visiting Children’s Cancer Hospital 57357 to participate in awareness sessions, spend time with patients, and distribute gifts. Volunteers will also organize a recreational and educational day for orphans in collaboration with Aseela Foundation in Al-Asmarat district. To further strengthen food security, MetLife employees are partnering with the Egyptian Food Bank to prepare and package hot meals for distribution to underprivileged families.
“These activities reflect our strategic commitment to embedding volunteerism as an integral part of MetLife’s identity and role as an active partner in advancing community development in Egypt,” remarked Haitham Taher, Vice Chairman and Managing Director of MetLife. “Investing in human capital extends beyond our employees, it also embraces their contributions to society and their efforts to enhance the quality of life for vulnerable groups. These initiatives represent a model of collaboration between the private sector and civil society to create tangible and sustainable impact. They reaffirm our vision that MetLife is not just an insurance company, but a positive force for good and development in Egypt.”
Underscoring MetLife’s steadfast commitment to corporate social responsibility, the initiative reflects the company’s ongoing efforts to instill values of participation and volunteerism among employees through direct engagement in developmental and service activities. MetLife firmly believes that serving the community is a fundamental pillar of its purpose, equally significant as the daily work carried out within its offices.
