DP World and Syria’s General Authority for Maritime and Land Ports Sign Landmark $800 Million MoU to Transform Port of Tartous and Logistics Zones

In a strategic move set to reshape Syria’s maritime and logistics landscape, DP World has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) worth USD 800 million with the General Authority for Maritime and Land Ports of Syria. This milestone agreement marks a major step toward revitalizing Syria’s trade infrastructure and boosting its role as a regional and global commerce hub.
Under the MoU, DP World will invest in the development, management, and operation of a state-of-the-art multi-purpose terminal at the Port of Tartous, significantly enhancing the port’s efficiency and operational capacity. This ambitious project aims to position Tartous as a key gateway for international trade and a vital contributor to regional economic integration.
The partnership goes beyond port development. Both parties have agreed to collaborate on establishing industrial zones, free zones, inland ports, and cargo transit hubs across several strategic locations in Syria. These initiatives reflect a shared commitment to facilitating seamless trade, streamlining logistics, and accelerating the country’s economic recovery and growth.
This agreement aligns with the Syrian government’s vision to modernize its transport and logistics sector, attract foreign direct investment, and support national reconstruction efforts. It also underscores DP World’s dedication to enabling smarter trade solutions and fostering sustainable economic progress in emerging markets.
With this bold partnership, Syria is opening a new chapter in infrastructure development, backed by global expertise and a forward-looking approach to economic transformation.
