The Canada-Egypt Business Council, chaired by Eng. Moataz Raslan, organized its eighth mission to Canada from April 6 to 10, with the participation of high-level representatives from the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Petroleum, Investment, and the Suez Canal Economic Zone, along with members of the House of Representatives and the Senate, and a distinguished group of business leaders from various sectors including agriculture, industry, education, tourism, chemicals, information technology, and healthcare.
The mission included conferences and extensive meetings in Toronto, Ottawa, and Montreal, where discussions focused on enhancing economic cooperation and increasing trade between Egypt and Canada, in addition to promoting promising investment opportunities in the Egyptian market.
Eng. Moataz Raslan emphasized that the mission comes within the framework of supporting economic openness and attracting foreign investment, which contributes to boosting local economic growth. The Egyptian delegation met with several Canadian officials, including the Mayor of Toronto, Ms. Olivia Chow, who welcomed the delegation and expressed her keenness to strengthen bilateral cooperation, announcing plans for a Canadian delegation to visit Egypt in December 2025.
The delegation also held productive meetings with Senate Members and parliamentarians and investment bodies, as well as members of the Egyptian and Arab communities in Canada. These meetings resulted in new opportunities for cooperation in the fields of education, real estate investment, and mining.
One of the key outcomes of the mission was the identification of vocational education as a priority sector for both countries. Accordingly, the Council extended an invitation to the Minister of Education and Technical Education to participate in a broad seminar scheduled for May 27, aimed at highlighting this vital sector and enhancing partnership opportunities between Egypt and Canada.
The visit concluded with the announcement of the opening of a new branch of the Canada-Egypt Business Council in Canada—a significant step toward deepening the economic partnership between the two nations.
