ECIC and AIMEC Conclude Strategic Meetings in Tunisia and Sign Minutes of Meeting to Advance African Economic Cooperation

The Egyptian Business Council for International Cooperation (ECIC), led by its Chairman, Eng. Moataz Raslan, successfully concluded a high-level mission to the Republic of Tunisia, heading a distinguished delegation of Egyptian parliamentarians and business leaders, including:

* Dr. Sherif El Gabaly, ECIC Board Member, Member of the Egyptian Parliament, Member of the Pan-African Parliament, Chairman of the Egyptian-Tunisian Business Council, and Chairman of Polyserve Group.
* Dr. Effat El Sadat, ECIC Board Member, Member of the Egyptian Senate, and Chairman of Sadat Group.
* Eng. Mahmoud Sarg, ECIC Member, Chairman of Sarg Tannery, and Chairman of the Leather and Tannery Export Council.
* Eng. Ahmad Gaber Mohamed, ECIC Member, Chairman of UmiPack, Board Member of the Giza Chamber of Commerce, Board Member of the Export Council for Printing and Packaging, and Board Member of the Egyptian-Tunisian Business Council.

The mission included a series of strategic meetings with the African Inclusive Markets Excellence Center (AIMEC), headed by H.E. Ambassador Dr. Youssef Kordofani, bringing together representatives of leading economic institutions and private-sector organizations from Tunisia, Egypt, and across Africa.

The Egyptian trade mission commenced its program with a high-level meeting with H.E. Mr. Samir Abid, Minister of Trade and Export Development of Tunisia, during which participants discussed bilateral trade and investment relations and identified key challenges and obstacles, with a view to developing practical mechanisms to address and remove them.

The meetings were attended by H.E. Ambassador Bassem Hassan, Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Tunisia, along with representatives of AIMEC Ambassador Dr Youssef Kordofani , the Tunisian Union of Industry,Trade and Handicrafts (UTICA) represented by Mr. Abdessalem Oued, the Tunisian African Business Council (TABC) represented by Mr. Mohsen Boujbal , the Export Promotion Center of Tunisia (CEPEX) represented by Mr. Mourad Ben Hussein, and CONNECT International, in addition to African business networks, chambers of commerce, economic development institutions, and a number of private-sector leaders from Egypt and various African countries.

Discussions focused on enhancing economic, trade, and investment cooperation among African countries, strengthening partnerships between private-sector institutions, and facilitating access to African markets in support of sustainable development and regional economic integration.

At the conclusion of the meetings, ECIC and AIMEC signed a Minutes of Meeting (MoM) outlining areas of mutual interest and future cooperation. The document establishes a framework for continued dialogue, coordination, and collaboration between the two institutions and serves as a foundation for the development of future joint initiatives and projects.

Participants also explored cooperation opportunities across several priority sectors, including:

* Agriculture and agro-industries.
* Manufacturing and engineering industries.
* Renewable energy.
* Healthcare.
* Transportation and logistics.
* Digital transformation.
* Artificial intelligence.
* Water and environmental solutions.

Both parties reaffirmed the importance of supporting women’s economic empowerment, youth entrepreneurship, SME development, and the integration of productive enterprises into African value chains.

The meetings further examined the development of an African Market Entry Platform, designed to facilitate business matchmaking, market intelligence, institutional connectivity, investment opportunities, and strategic partnerships across the African continent.

Speaking at the conclusion of the meetings, Eng. Moataz Raslan, Chairman of ECIC, stated:

“Our meetings with the Tunisian Minister of Trade, key economic institutions, and our partnership discussions with AIMEC have reaffirmed the significant opportunities available for Tunisian-Egyptian cooperation, as well as broader Egyptian-African economic collaboration. For his part, H.E. Ambassador Dr. Youssef Kordofani welcomed the outcomes of the meetings and emphasized the importance of enhanced collaboration among African institutions to promote inclusive economic growth and strengthen continental integration.

Both parties agreed to continue institutional and technical consultations in the coming months and welcomed future cooperation opportunities, including a forthcoming visit to Egypt at the end of June and participation in AIMEC’s official launch activities scheduled for July 2026.

The meetings reflect a shared commitment to advancing African economic integration, facilitating business partnerships and investment opportunities, and creating practical mechanisms that support sustainable economic growth across the continent.
