Electrolux Group Participates in Swedish National Day Celebrations in Cairo Under the Theme: “The Climate Matchmaker – Swedish Solutions for a Sustainable Future”
Electrolux Group, the world leader in the production and manufacturing of electrical appliances, participated in the Swedish Embassy’s celebration of Sweden’s National Day in Cairo. This year’s event was held under the theme “The Climate Matchmaker – Swedish Solutions for a Sustainable Future”, with the participation of senior officials, diplomats, business leaders, and prominent figures.
This participation comes as part of Electrolux Group’s commitment to supporting green transformation efforts, actively contributing to raising environmental awareness, and providing innovative solutions that support sustainable development goals and reduce the environmental impact associated with consumption and production.
Maissam Hannawi, Managing Director of Electrolux Group Egypt, expressed his pride in Electrolux Group’s participation in this prestigious event, for the third consecutive year, saying: “We are proud to be part of this occasion, that brings together history and innovation, and reflects Sweden’s commitment to a more sustainable future. At Electrolux Group, we believe our responsibility goes beyond delivering high-quality products. Sustainability is at the core of our strategy, and we are constantly working to significantly reduce our environmental impact.”
Hannawi added: “For Electrolux Group, Egypt is more than just a promising market, it is a strategic hub from which our vision for manufacturing and export is launched. The positive investment climate and clear government support have enabled us to expand and invest in advanced production lines that combine environmental efficiency with technological innovation. We firmly believe that the industrial sector is a key partner in tackling the challenges of climate change, and we continue to work toward building an eco-friendly future. Our factories in Egypt are proudly zero waste to landfill, and we actively harness solar energy to reduce carbon emissions and preserve natural resources. These initiatives reflect our deep commitment to integrating sustainability across every stage of our operations.”
The event offered a strategic opportunity for Electrolux Group to engage with government entities, decision-makers, media professionals, and representatives from environmental sectors. The company showcased its products aimed at improving energy and water efficiency.
Electrolux Group emphasized, through its participation, the importance of collaboration between the public and private sectors in building a more sustainable economic system, particularly in the face of global climate challenges and the urgent need for practical, innovative solutions that strengthen communities’ resilience to environmental changes.
Electrolux Group is internationally recognized for its leadership in sustainability and climate action. The company has been named a Top Climate Leader by the Financial Times for three consecutive years (2023, 2024, and 2025), highlighting its consistent efforts to reduce emissions across its operations and value chain. In 2025, Newsweek awarded Electrolux a Five-Star Sustainability Rating, recognizing its excellence in environmental performance, transparency, and social responsibility. Additionally, EcoVadis ranked Electrolux among the Top 5 Most Sustainable Companies in the World in 2025, affirming Electrolux Group’s ongoing commitment to integrating sustainability at the core of its global business strategy.
It is worth noting that Electrolux Group, the mother company of Zanussi and Olympic Group, has entered the Egyptian market in 2011 through the acquisition of Olympic Group, the largest home appliances manufacturer in the region. Since then, the company has doubled its investments in Egypt to become one of the largest Swedish investments in the engineering industry sector. Electrolux also exports its products to more than 27 countries worldwide, reflecting global markets’ confidence in Swedish quality and technology, manufactured by Egyptian hands.
